On Monday 11 May, Highworth and District Lions voted to support the Highworth Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Job Club.
With rising costs, the charity has found it increasingly difficult to continue this vital work without extra financial backing.
Usually run twice a year, this friendly, community-based course combines practical guidance and one-to-one coaching to equip jobseekers with the skills and confidence they need to find and secure work. Sessions cover: identifying strengths and areas for development, exploring motivations and barriers, setting goals, writing effective CVs, refining interview techniques, and building teamwork skills. Over the past five years, the club has benefited more than 100 people - many have gone on to find employment or gained the confidence to apply for new opportunities.
Funding from Highworth Lions will allow the Job Club to keep running, while maintaining the warm, welcoming environment where participants feel comfortable and fully engaged. The grant also covers course materials and resources for attendees to take away and use.
