Young Leaders in Service
Coming to Highworth in 2026 — the Young Leaders in Service Programme is designed to inspire and develop students in local junior and secondary schools, encouraging them to take an active role in their communities and build confidence, teamwork and responsibility.
Through the scheme, students learn the values of service, kindness and leadership while working on practical projects — organising charity collections, supporting local events or helping with environmental improvements — guided by members of Highworth Lions.

Participants log their volunteer hours over 12 months to earn Bronze, Silver, or Gold certificates, which provide excellent recognition for university and employment applications. The program is broken down into specific operational details to help youths and sponsoring Lions Clubs participate:
How It Works
Age Requirement: Open to youths aged 11 to 18. (Some local UK and regional clubs may accommodate ages 8 to 18).
Timeframe: Participants complete their volunteer hours within a consecutive 12-month period.
Tracking: Each participant is given a logbook or log sheet to track their activities.
Verification: Logged hours must be signed off by a responsible adult, such as a teacher, youth leader, or parent.
ROAR — Respect, Opportunity, Achievement and Responsibility
Coming to Highworth at the end of 2026, ROAR is a free digital initiative for children aged 7–11, sponsored by Lions Clubs of the British Isles and run by 8billionideas. It complements school curricula by teaching core values, life skills, and creative problem‑solving through interactive lessons, games, and projects.
The 3‑step programme includes six digital lesson plans across subjects like literacy, science, and PSHE. Pupils work in teams to identify problems and develop solutions, then submit video presentations for regional or national finals. All participants earn certificates and badges.
Funded fully by local Lions Clubs, PTAs, or businesses, it costs schools nothing. Full details, videos, and signup are available on the Lions Club ROAR website.

Highworth Lions has long been a proud supporter of children’s football across the local area, recognising the role sport plays in keeping young people active and building confidence, teamwork and community spirit.
Through practical help and fundraising, the Lions contribute towards kit, equipment, training gear, pitch hire and travel — removing financial barriers so more children can take part, whatever their background.
